Gift Guide for the Artist in Your Life

artforummyid

To make your holiday shopping easier this year, we’ve created a gift guide to cover all of the artists in your life.  We hope you love shopping for your artist as much as they love what you pick out.

For the artist who loves to experiment and play with different types of acrylic paints, we’ve picked out some staples that every acrylic painter needs, our 400 Series Acrylic Paper and our new 300 Series Slim Frame Canvas along with a beautiful set of new Velvetouch brushes from Princeton Brush.  We also chose some fun paints that might be new to your artist and they’re probably dying to try them out.  Why not gift an intro set of acrylic paints from Maimeri’s Polycolor line or a fluid acrylic starter set from Daler-Rowney’s System3 line?  We also think giving a pouring set or pretty shimmering ink set would be a fun way to challenge the acrylic artist on your list.

If you have a colored pencil fanatic in your life, you might not know how much fun it is to mix colored pencils with different papers.  Why not give them an assortment of papers for them to play with?  Our 400 Series Colored Pencil and 400 Series Drawing papers are no-brainers and sure to please any colored pencil artist, but why not mix in some color and gift them some of our 400 Series Toned Tan, Gray, or Blue Mixed Media papers?  They’ll love how differently their pencil performs on the toned paper.  While we’re on the subject of pencils, consider giving them some new pencils by wrapping up some Lyra Polycolor Pencils in a pretty tin box – we think they’ll love them.

Have a jewelry maker on your list?  Lucky you!  The first step in crafting a new piece for many artists is creating it on paper first, so getting them some good paper, like our 400 Series Marker Paper and our Vision Mixed Media Paper, along with some Aqua Brush Duo Markers and a set of Polycolor Pencils from Lyra is a great way for them to start the process.   Now, on to the jewelry!  Why not give a DAS Smart Clay Set or DAS Clay Bijoux Set to help stoke some creativity, they’re sure to be a hit.

If you have an urban sketcher on your hands, we know they’d love to unwrap some of our Hardbound Mixed Media or Toned Paper Journals as well as some Mixed Media or Watercolor postcards to take with them on their next urban sketching adventure.  Princeton has a handy Neptune Travel Brush Set that is perfect for taking out in the wild and a travel watercolor set like the Aquafine Half Pan Slider Travel Set from Daler-Rowney would be a great match.  If your urban sketcher is more into dry media, the Lyra Sketching Roll has absolutely everything they need for a day of sketching on the go, all rolled up in a tidy case – it will be a game changer for your artist.

Similar to an urban sketcher, the plein air painter on your list loves to pack up their art supplies and create outside.  They’ll love our Ready Cut Watercolor Paper, our 400 Series Watercolor Hardbound Journals, or our 400 Series Watercolor Block – they’re great for outdoor work.  They’ll also be obsessed with Princeton’s Neptune Travel Brush Set – they pack up so nicely!  If your painter is in need of a new easel, the St. Paul’s Easel from Daler-Rowney folds up and comes with a carry bag – perfect for grabbing as soon as inspiration strikes.  If you’re looking to gift some color, we think your artist would be delighted with a travel-friendly watercolor set from MaimeriBlu or a pretty Intro Gouache Set from Maimeri.

The oil painter in your life will love some of our 300 Series Canvas Panels or our 400 Series Oil Painting Paper.  To go along with those beautiful surfaces, think about giving your artist some new brushes, like the Princeton Aspen Long Handle Brush Set, as well as some gorgeous oil paints from Maimeri, like the Maimeri Classico Intro Set – sure to please even the most discerning oil artist.

If you have a calligrapher on your list, they’re probably always in need of paper.  Strathmore has a wide variety of papers that are perfect for their beautiful writing, like our 400 Series Calligraphy Paper or our 400 Series Parchment Toned Paper.  Our Writing Paper and our Stamping Cards are sure to be hits too.  We love the idea of unwrapping a fresh box of new inks, so why not give a set like the Calli Ink Set from Daler-Rowney?

The fashion fan in your life is sure to love being able to sketch out their ideas in our Smooth Bristol Visual Journal or on our 400 Series Marker Paper.  Paired with Lyra’s Aqua Brush Duo Marker Set or Lyra’s Graduate Fineliner Marker Set, it’s a gifting match made in heaven.  We know they’d also love the chance to bring their creations to life, so give them that opportunity with the Screen Printing Set from Daler-Rowney System3 – maybe you’ll be lucky enough to be gifted one of their creations in the future!
